Kathleen G. Hill

Not a stranger to the Marion area, Miss Kathy has taught piano since 1981 and has been affiliated with Miss Edye’s School of Dance and Performing Arts since 1990. She is now proud to continue teaching in the newly-owned Irey Dance Academy! Learning model

Private lessons are taught using the Bastien Method which is one of the most popular conventional methods, introducing music concepts intertwined with technique and theory. Each concept builds on the last, from piece to piece. Colorful pictures help to introduce the concept and encourages conversation between teacher and student regarding the concept being introduced.

All levels after the Primer level comprise of five (5) books. Most students will use three (3) to four (4) books and a set of flash cards.

All pieces are age-appropriate and enjoyable for students to work. A mixture of pop, folk, classical and contemporary styles are used. Sight reading is also part of the curriculum, helping students to become more confident in their reading skills.

Fees

Lessons for newer students will be 30 minutes in length one day per week. Students that have studied for more than 1 year may take a 45 minute class (1 day a week) and accelerated students can opt for a 60 minute class (1 day a week). Fees are due the first lesson of each block.

30 minutes - $63/month

45 minutes - $73/month

60 minutes - $83/month
